Michael McDonough is a specialist advisor to the TGA and holds Associate Professorships at Melbourne University in Medicine and Adelaide University in Pharmacology. Previously, he was Head of Addiction Medicine & Toxicology at Melbourne’s Western Health Network, Chief Adviser in Addiction Medicine to the Department of Health (Victoria) and a medical advisor to the AFL and Justice Health. He has also conducted research on methadone-related deaths in Victoria and has extensive medico-legal experience in the area of drug-related morbidity and mortality. Mike has interests in clinical and forensic toxicology and Quality Use of Medicines in relation to Addiction Medicine practise, and has authored a number of papers in these areas.
