Despite being born without the lower portion of his spine, Kurt Fearnley has always had a go - from backyard football games to crawling along the Great Wall of China. Turning his attention to wheelchair sports in his teens, Kurt quickly excelled. Following two Silver medals at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic games, Kurt won Gold medals at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and Silver and Bronze medals at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. In 2009, Kurt crawled the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea and in 2012 was a member of Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race’s winning crew aboard Investec Loyal. Kurt is a passionate disability advocate and as a qualified Physical Education teacher travels throughout New South Wales teaching high school children. In 2018, Kurt was named the NSW Australian of the Year.
