The easing of Queensland’s COVID-19 restrictions from today mean that delegates and industry will be able to reconnect with care at APP2021 on 20-23 May at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC). APP Convenor and former Guild National President, Kos Sclavos AM welcomed changes to Queensland’s COVID-19 restrictions, which come into play from 4pm AEST on Tuesday 17 November1. Mr Sclavos said that the APP2021 Events Team had been working with the GCCEC for many months on COVID Safe Plans to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees.

“We’re excited that from 4pm AEST this afternoon, indoor premises like the GCCEC, can increase from one person to 4m2 to one person per 2m2. Seated and ticketed venues can also increase capacity from 50% to 100%*.”

“This is another positive step forward in what has been a tough year for community pharmacy, who have been working tirelessly to support Australian patients.” “The safety of our attendees is always our number one priority, and we’ll continue to keep a close tab on any COVID-19 developments.”

“The GCCEC has a Site Specific COVID Safe Plan which is approved from the Gold Coast Public Health Unit.”

“The COVID Safe Plan is constantly being reviewed and was developed in consultation with the GCCEC COVID Safe Task Force, industry bodies, government and health authorities. The plan covers all essential areas of operation including cleaning and hygiene, social distancing, food and beverage service, training and record keeping.”

“Guild members, community pharmacy colleagues and industry now have something else to look forward to with APP2021 in the horizon.”

“I encourage everyone to take a well-earned break on the Gold Coast to reconnect with colleagues, get the latest industry updates, network, earn CPD credits and build their skills.”

“There’s a lot to look forward to at APP2021, which is sure to be a bumper year with 400+ trade stands and 100+ speakers,” said Mr. Sclavos. “I encourage delegates to lock APP2021 into their calendars and register early at Super Early Bird rates, which saves them over $200 off standard rates.”
